Ocena M. Greer died Saturday, April 28, 1979 at 5:03 p.m. at the Sedan City Hospital at the age of 68 years, 4 months and 27 days. She was born December 1, 1910 at Peru, Kansas to Charles Isaac and Lillian Ruth (Butner) Adams. On July 8, 1928 she married James E. Greer at Sedan, Kansas. He survives at the home.
She grew up and attended school at Peru, Kansas, and lived in the Niotaze and Peru vicinity all of her life. She and her husband operated a grocery store in Niotaze for 29 years. They sold their business in 1968 and Ocena went to work at the Sedan City Hospital where she was employed 11 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church at Niotaze.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Jack E. Greer of Tucson, AZ & James L. Greer of Chautauqua, KS; four sisters, Hazel Attebery of Bartlesville, OK, Bell Baldwin of Pittsburg, PA, Mary Gardner of Shafter, CA, and Lucy Conway of Bartlesville, OK; three brothers, Albert Adams of Independence, KS, Robert Adams of Phillips, TX, and Charles Adams of Antioch, CA.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 1979 at the Graves Memorial Chapel in Caney with burial in Fairview Cemetery at Niotaze. Officiating minister was Rev. Moin Gourley of Niotaze
