Graveside services for James Oscar Miller, 89, who died Tuesday in a hospital after an extended illness, will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Pomona Cemetery, Pomona.
A native of Texas, he had lived in Modesto for 16 years. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.
He leaves two sons, including James L. Miller of Modesto; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Salas Brothers Chapel until 9 p.m. Sunday.

My grandma had written letters saying Oscar had taken care of his parents when they were older.
I found them in Texas County, Oklahoma in 1920. Oscar was calling himself Mark.
