Steven "Steve" J. DeWitt, 66, of Converse, passed away at 6:45 am on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. He was born in Huntington on June 10, 1955, to Edwin and Ruth (Shultz) DeWitt. On November 14, 1991, he married Robin Lois Truman, and she preceded him in death just a month earlier on January 22, 2022.
Steve was a graduate of Oak Hill High School and had worked since graduation at Crop Maker, now Nutrien Ag Solutions.
Steve and his friends created their own group named "The Lodge" and met up every Thursday. He was an avid racing fan and liked going to the local sprint car races. More than anything, Steve cherished his family and the time spent with them.
Survivors include his sons, Kyle (Beth) DeWitt of Middletown, OH, and Brad (Lindsey) DeWitt of LaFontaine; daughter, Hannah (Evan) Winn of Kempton; granddaughters, Annie DeWitt, Caroline DeWitt, Bailey DeWitt, and Karlyn Winn; grandson, Austin Winn; brothers, Paul (Janet) DeWitt and Lynn DeWitt; sisters, Sharon Brown and Kathy Street; as well as several nieces, nephews, friends, and his Truman family.
He was preceded in death by father, Edwin O. DeWitt; mother, Ruth E. DeWitt; loving wife, Robin Lois DeWitt; and brother, John DeWitt.
A Celebration of Life service will take place for both Steve and Robin at 1:00 pm on July 16, 2022, at Marion Elks, 1100 E. Bond Ave., Marion, IN 46952.
