MUNCIE--Rita D. Maynard was born in Marion to Robert E. and Frances Soultz Maynard Nov. 10, 1949.
She graduated from Bennett High School in 1967. She graduated from Ball State University in 1972 and worked for Georgia Welfare and Family Services in Bainbridge.
She later worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Indiana, inspecting nursing homes, and was executive director of East Central Indiana Heart Association and American Diabetics Association.
She worked for a Stars and Stripes publication in Germany from 1989 until it was moved back to the U.S.
She graduated from Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Radiologic Technology in 1995. She returned to Muncie and worked a mobile X-ray unit. She later worked with Cardinal Health Care in several satellite locations. She most recently worked at the Family Health Care Facility on Bethel Avenue.
She is survived by her mother, Marion; three brothers, James Maynard Stone (wife: Rosemary), Marion, Stephen Maynard (wife: Janice), Sweetser, and Brian Maynard (wife: Elizabeth), Decatur; and two sisters, Earlene Wehunt (husband: Donald) and Debra L. Wagner (husband: Jeffrey), both of Marion; 13 nieces and nephews, and 11 great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert E. Maynard Jr., and her father, Robert E. Maynard Sr.
There will be no viewing. A celebration of her life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Church, where she was a member. Mass will be celebrated by Father John Keifer. Family will receive friends at the church an hour before the mass. Northeast Indiana Cremation Society handled arrangements.
