Obituary for Loyd Lee Blaylock
Dad lived a long, happy 91 years. Born in Cedar Hill, Tx to Effie Emma Martin Blaylock and Arthur B. Blaylock. Raised mostly in Forney and Mesquite. The family moved often for farming opportunities throughout Kaufman, Dallas, Limestone and Wood counties.
He was drafted into the Army in 1952. Served stateside in the 11th Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict. He had paratrooper readiness training in Alaska and various other U.S. locations. Was honorably discharged in 1960 after serving in the Army Reserves for 6 years.

Met our mom Frances in April 1954 on a blind date and married his beautiful bride in July 1954. Just took 4 months and he knew she was the one. Started his career at Wholesale Electronics before the Army and was able to continue his career with Wholesale starting in the warehouse, then as traveling salesman and rose through the ranks to VP/General Manager. He retired from Wholesale in Jan. 1990. He had many jobs as a young country boy but the electronics business afforded him the standard of living he had not known before.

Dad was an avid golfer and a member of the Senior Golf Association Amateur Division. When he retired he played golf several times a week, eventually decided to pay for his "habit" by marshalling at the Mesquite Municipal Golf Course for several years. He also enjoyed watching and reading about golf. In addition, he loved the Dallas Cowboys, a fan regardless if they won or lost. Dad loved to tell stories to anyone who would listen, his favorite topics Dallas Cowboys, golf and his traveling salesman days.

His most favorite pastime was to go for a drive. When we were a young family he would drive to all of our vacations, most of the time pulling a travel trailer. We camped in the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico. Enjoyed the rivers and lakes of Arkansas and Missouri. The scenery was always beautiful because dad loved the fresh air and all that nature had to offer. In his later years, he would just drive to get him and mom out of the house. It was their form of entertainment and therapy.

Dad loved his four children, Liz, Connie, Don and Susan. He stated before he passed that his children is his legacy. But Dad's greatest joy was his grandchildren. Rachel his oldest, the professionally trained singer and sales manager like her PawPaw. Bryan the proud Marine veteran and future lawyer. Nathan the business traveler and entrepreneur. Blake the fellow Dallas Cowboy fan and has his own DJ promotions business. Dad also loved hearing about the step grandchildren and great grandchildren, wanting to know about their lives, etc.

Dad is preceded in death by 11 siblings, his mom and dad, various beloved nieces and nephews, and his granddaughter Natalie. Dad is survived by his beautiful wife Frances, his children and their spouses, Liz (Gilbert), Connie (David), Susan (Jaime) and his only son Don. His 19 grandchildren, step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. The funeral service is Weds Feb. 23, 2022 at 2pm. The burial will be immediately after the service at the Garden of Reflections
