Obituary from the "Genesee News" (ID), Aug 6 1915:

DEATH OF JOSEPH BERSHAW
Another Genesee Pioneer Passes to Great Beyond After a Short Illness
Joseph Bershaw, one of the pioneers of the Genesee country, died at the local hospital Wednesday night, Aug 4, at 8 o'clock of cancer of the stomach, aged 48 years.

While the deceased had been a sufferer from stomach trouble for some time, it was not until within the past few days that he became seriously ill and he was removed to the local hospital for treatment.

Mr. Bershaw was born near Ottawa, Canada, in 1867, and came to this country 27 years later, settling near Genesee where he engaged in farming. In the fall of 1889 he was united in marriage at Lewiston to Miss Mary Blanchard of Uniontown to which union have been born six sons--Frank, George, Fred, Eugene, Ernest, and Louis, who with their mother, are left to mourn their loss.

Deceased was a member of the order of Knights of Columbus and St Mary's church, the teachings of which he lived up to as nearly as it is possible to do. The Knights of Columbus will attend the funeral in a body.

Funeral services will be held from St Mary's church. Saturday morning at 9 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Fr. Myers of Coeur d"Alene state chaplain of the Knights of Columbus. It was attended by a large concourse of friends and neighbors.
