He graduated from Commercial High School in 1954. He worked at Union Camp for 39 years, and retired as a maintenance superintendent. He was a member of Hamilton Ridge Hunting Club and the Elks Lodge # 183 for 29 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Beatrice Faircloth, Grace Faircloth, Marie Glisson, Nellie Ruth Pipkins; and brother, Joe Motes. Surviving are his wife, Violet Green Motes; daughter, Debra Davis (Eathen) of Garden City; son, Lenoard Eugene Motes (Debbie) of Tybee Island; and sisters, Sarah Wilson, Gloria Barnes, and Margaret Motes.
