Jerry Lee Blakeman passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the age of 85 to join his Loving Wife after her passing 19 days earlier.

Jerry was born in North Platte, Nebraska in 1936. He came to Salinas, California with his family about 1938 and was raised there for most of his childhood.

Jerry was very proud of his tenure in the Armed Forces, joining the Air force in 1954. He served in both Korea and Vietnam war.

He married his beloved wife Nellie Marie Bailey in December of 1954. During their marriage of 67 years, he was able to show his wife and family the world, they lived overseas in France, Germany and stateside in California, Mississippi, Delaware, Texas and Wyoming. During their time overseas they were able to vacation to places like Italy, Holland and Switzerland to name a few. When Jerry retired from the Air Force in 1972 they settled in Salinas, California to be close to their families.

After his retirement from the Air Force Jerry continued working as an electrician/ mechanic around Monterey County as he was not a person that just sat idle and made sure his wife and kids did not have to struggle. When he did finally retire after 3 to 4 different jobs, he enjoyed traveling around California in his RV with his wife and visiting family. He and Nellie also took multiple trips (Six) to Hawaii in their retirement.

His hobbies included wood working, metal work, camping, fishing and fastpitch softball. He made countless kids table and chair sets, rocking horses, scissor holders, kitchen cabinets and so many more treasured items for his Grandchildren, family and friends alike. He was always tinkering around the house, fixing clocks and gardening.

Jerry was preceded in death by his first born daughter Joyce Marie Blakeman and his loving wife Nellie Marie (Bailey) Blakeman. He was the last remaining of his 7 siblings.
He leaves behind his son Jerry Lee (Dorothy) Blakeman, daughter Brenda (David) Montanez; 5 grandchildren Aaron (Krystal), Alisha (Scott), Sean (Cassie), Trisha (Frances) and Eric; in addition to 6 great-grandchildren; Michael, Madison, Bailey, Adeline, Emma and Theodore. As well as his nieces and nephews, multi- generations of cousins and extended family who loved him deeply.

Funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St. Salinas, Ca. 93901.
