"Ruby attended school at Rosston, Oklahoma, and graduated in 1947. She later went to beauty school [Paul's Beauty College] in Oklahoma City and came back to Gate and opened a Beauty Shop. They had 4 children, Jim, Linda, Dan, & Tom. "

"Ruby lost her beloved husband, Edgar of nearly 55 years, on Aug. 6, 2004. Their precious daughter Linda passed away March 25th, 1997. She spent her remaining years on the farm East of Gate. She was a member of the Gate Friends Church, having joined in June 6, 1976."

"Ruby leaves as her survivors Sons: Jim & wife Linda, Dan & wife Earlene, and Tom and Wife Robin, Son-In-Law Max Elwood. Her grand-children and great-grand children were the light of her life. She has 11 g. children & 10 greats at this writing."

"My pall-bearers are to be my Grand-Sons with Bruce Newby the preacher. One of my favorite songs is In the Garden another one is 'My Jesus I Love Thee'."

[On June 2, 2020, Ruby added the following addendum on a single sheet of paper]

"Alot has happened since Edgar passed away. Ruby lived on the farm around 5 years alone after he passed away. She sold the farm to Jeff & Miranda and their two girls Bristol & Breelyn. Ruby moved to Laverne in Jeff's home & they moved to the farm. She didn't like to live in town, but knew she no longer [could] keep up things. She had 20 G.G. children, but lost [great grandson] Andrew Newton [Tyner] due to an accident. Her children, G. children & G.G. children were her life."

"She has cooked lunch for Jeff & Ryan nearly every day as they both work in the Bank. She said she needed something to do and they boys enjoyed it. At 90 years old she always mowed her yard. She said if she died mowing she was happy. She tells everyone she has a home on the farm & a house in town."

[The following is added by Ruby's son, Jim, as an update]

'At Ruby's passing, she left not only her 11 grand children, but now she had 24 great grand children, and one great-great grand child. Ruby lost her best friend-sister, Anna Belle (Bowers) Cartmill in 2008. Ruby was also survived by her older sister, Marjorie (Bowers) Henderson, and Marjorie's oldest son, Richard Davis, who was like a brother to Ruby.'

'In the last few months of her life, Ruby resided in Laverne's Park Pointe Senior Living Center where she received excellent support and care.'

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Gate Friends Church, c/o Box 990, Laverne, OK 73848.
