Joan was born on December 10, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Isabelle and Donald Heusler and grew up in Penn Yan, NY. Joan retired from The College Store at Hobart and William Smith Colleges and then returned there to work part time until 2019. She loved swimming in Seneca Lake, taking long walks around Geneva and working in her flower gardens. She was an avid reader, often reading three books a week. A lifelong tea drinker, she accumulated hundreds of Red Rose figurines. She loved helping her sister, Anne, in the large vegetable garden and talking daily with her brother and sisters for hours. After marrying Thomas J. "Bud" McLaughlin, Jr., they moved to Geneva, NY and raised three children, Holly (Patrick) Clancy of Waterloo, NY; Donald (Barbara Hanford) McLaughlin of Geneva, NY and Patrick McLaughlin of Geneva, NY. Joan is survived by her siblings, Anne Brand of Tyre, NY, David Heusler of Penn Yan, NY and Lilian (James) Matteson of Penfield, NY; grandchildren, Siobhan (Shannon) Prosser of Lyons, NY, Caitlin (Stanley) Robenolt of Ovid, NY and Ian (Dawn McPherson) Clancy; great-grandchildren, Shayla, David, Bo, Angel and Michael Prosser, Lorelai, Lilian and Addison Robenolt, Callie Clancy; as well as many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas; great-granddaughter, Tori Prosser; and her brother, Donald F. (Chubby) Heusler.
