Carlo Biscaretti di Ruffia, son of Beatrice Ferrero and Roberto Biscaretti di Ruffia, Senator of the Kingdom and co-founder of FIAT, inherited from his father the great passion for cars. On November 18, 1898, not yet of age, with the gentleman-drivers he founded the Automobile Club of Turin (which later became the Automobil Club of Italy). Among the first to obtain a driving license, in 1901 he participated in the 1st Automobile Tour of Italy. He abandoned his law studies to devote himself to technical design, collaborating with newborn companies in the automotive sector such as Itala, FIAT, Lancia, SPA, SCAT, Nazzaro, Ansaldo, Michelin and Solex. He was also a well-known advertiser receiving assignments from well-known companies such as Aurora, Olio Sasso and Olivetti and from 1916 to 1930 he was director of the Turin newspaper "La Stampa". Opposed for political interests in 1933 by Giovanni Agnelli, he succeeded only in 1957 in realizing his dream of creating the Automobile Museum in Turin, even if he did not see its inauguration realized due to his untimely death.
