George E. Jackering – 69, of Ellenboro, WI passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 6, 2022.

Private graveside services will be at a later date with a public celebration of life to be announced. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road in Dubuque, Iowa assisted the family.

George was born on February 28th, 1952, in Lancaster, WI the son of George B and Juanita (Levins) Jackering (Carpenter). He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1970, and later attended Southwest Technical College to train to be a butcher. On March 2, 1972, he was united in marriage to Bonnie L. Jackering. Together, they had four children, Nickie, George, Heath, and Parker.

After trying his hand at butchering and farming, George eventually found his calling as an over the road truck driver. He worked for over 20 years for several companies while owning his own truck and trailer. Soon after George was diagnosed with diabetes in 1994, he was forced to give up truck driving. This led him to purchase and operate the Ellenboro Saloon, which he went on to successfully operate for many years with the help of his wife, Bonnie, and children.

George's passions included: hunting, fishing, spending time with family, playing euchre at Zippy's Brass Rail, attending his granddaughter's sporting events, and spending time with his dog, Shelby.

Survivors include his children Nickie (Todd) Blume, George Jackering, and Parker (Tabitha) Jackering. Sisters Donna Hamilton, and Laura Hoegsted. Grandchildren, Grace Blume, Kimberly (Evan) Anderson, Kevin Dorsey-Notter, Kiayia Jackering, Ella Jackering, Aleah Jackering, and Callie Jackering. Great-granddaughter, Margaret Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents George B. Jackering and Juanita Carpenter; his loving wife of almost 50 years Bonnie; his son Heath, grandson Lucas, sister-in-law Nancy Hutchcroft, brother's in-law John Carpenter and Lenny Hoegsted.
