Charles F. Friend, 92, formerly of the Dayton community, died Monday night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Grace F. Moore, of Lafayette with whom he had lived for several years. He was a retired farmer and was the oldest member of the Dayton Methodist church.

Mr. Friend was born near Reynolds and moved to Tippecanoe county with his parents when he was nine years old. He farmed in the Dayton vicinity for many years before his retirement. He was married in 1882 to Martha Allamang, who died in 1926. In 1928 he was married to Bertha Butler.

Survivors besides the widow and Mrs. Moore include another daughter, Mrs. Lela M. Brand of west of Mulberry. A son, Robert T. Friend, preceded him in death.

Other survivors are 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Last rites were held Thursday afternoon at the Dayton Methodist church with the Rev. H. Earl Moore and the Rev. Harry Parker officiating. Burial was in the Dayton cemetery.
