TISHOMINGO -- Services for J.D. Baker, 80, were Saturday at Corbin Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Keith Jacobs officiating. Interment was at Mill Creek Cemetery.
Baker died July 23, 1998, in Tishomingo. He was born Dec. 27, 1917, at Kenlock, to John D. and Ellie Tolbert Baker.
A resident of Tishomingo for 29 years, he served in the Army during World War II, was a former steam plant engineer and employee of Murray State College and East Central University. He and Joe Anna Tipp were married Sept. 8, 1942, at Leesville, La.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Kenneth, Tishomingo; a daughter, Carol Bamonte, Idaho Falls, Idaho; a brother, Billy, Roswell, N.M.; two sisters, Ellen Scott, Bonham, Texas, and Katherine Baudizzon, Midwest City; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Q.D.; and a great-grandson.
