Daughter of George Ashford (1723-1814) who died in Newberry County, South Carolina.

The documents provided show Anne married to Unknown Kent. She and Thomas Kent were contemporaries, however, in Loudoun County, Virginia. She was born in December 1744 and Thomas was born in 1746. They were about one year apart.

The graphics above are from her father's family bible and his Newberry County, South Carolina estate records.

Alcey, or Alsey, who is mentioned in later years of Thomas' life, could conceivably be a second wife although there is no documentation to date. Alcey or Alsey passes property to her daughter "Elizabeth" in a deed but Thomas has no known daughter named Elizabeth. Without documentation, their connection to Thomas is at best speculative.

Anne's death and burial are unknown but likely remain in Loudoun County as there are no available records to show otherwise.

Thomas left Loudoun County in roughly 1815 to travel to Columbiana County, Ohio along with some of his grown children then later moved to Bryan, Williams County, Ohio with same children.

What is the support for Anne Ashford being Thomas' wife aside from the documents posted above?

The fact that Thomas had a son Ashford is a convincing factor alone but the fact they also had eleven other descendants including grandsons and great grandsons with the first or middle name Ashford is not by coincidence.

Thomas Kent (1746-1849) had the following Ashford given and middle name descendants.

Ashford Kent - Son of Thomas Kent and Anne Ashford
Ashford Kent - Grandson of Thomas and Anne through son Ashford
Ashford Kent - Great Grandson of Thomas and Anne through son Ashford

For those who may still question this connection, for what it may be worth, as a Thomas Kent descendant I match 197 Ashford descendants' DNA. - Gregg Kent Schrader.
