James was married twice, the first time to Charity Sweatman and then married (Granny - Mommy) Rebecca Bumgarner. James and Rebecca's had 6 children together and James had a daughter with Charity name Charity Parker. She married one of Granny's brothers Anthony Bumgarner.

James was one of the signers of the petition to form Jackson County. I guess you could say he was one of the founding father of Jackson County.
