Levi was named for Benajah Houston, a friend of the Jordan family in Elbert County. His father died when he was two years of age, and he was reared by his mother He was not found in the 1850-1860 or 1870 census of Georgia.He was listed in the Georgia " 1864 Census For Reorganizing The Militia", page 256, Living in Atlanta, in the 35th Senatorial Dist., 469th Militia District, Levi H. Jordan, age 41 years, 1 month, Occupation Trackhand. He was my (Ron Holley's) great-great-great-grand-uncle)
