Obituary.
Died, at Fort Scott, Kansas, on Wednesday morning, the 24th day of May, 1876, Henry Wilson, aged 56 years. The deceased was born February 16th, 1820, at Steubenville, Ohio, where he received his education. After arriving at man's estate, he followed his chosen profession, that of a printer, until 1826 [sic], when he was appointed a purser in the U.S. Navy, which position he held until 1851, when he resigned and returned to his early home. In 1857, he was appointed senior Major General of the militia of Ohio by Gov. Salmon P. Chase, which position he retained until after the war broke out and the militia were disbanded. During the war, he discharged most efficiently the arduous duties of assistant ordinance officer at Cincinnati. At the time of his death, he was the trusted employee of the M.R., F.S. & G.R.R. Co.
The deceased was only taken sick on Monday morning last and even then, the symptoms did not assume a dangerous form until the next day, Tuesday, when strong convulsions shook his frame and from which he never recovered. He was conscious till the last, with the exception of the time the convulsions lasted...
To those who, by Mr. Wilson's death, have lost a husband and a father, our sympathies go forth.

His son, Samuel Medary Wilson, is found at Find a Grave 87079359.
