Mary Jane Francis was married to Joseph French about 1887. According to her death certificate, informed by her husband, she was the daughter of Thomas Francis and Nancy Jane Wilson. In 1900, in Kansas City, Missouri, her mother's death was recorded on October 15, 1900. Her name was published in the newspaper as Nancy Jane Eiliff. She had married George Eiliff in 1880.

Their oldest daughter, as shown in the 1900 census at Kaw. Jackson County, Missouri, was "Goldy", AKA Goldie [Daugherty] who died in Azuza, Los Angeles County, California, on June 10, 1944, and was buried in Oakdale Cemetery. Her parents were given as Joseph French, born in Atlanta, Georgia, and Mary Jane Francis, born in Louisville, Kentucky. The informant was Ruby Holbert, who may not have had accurate information.

The next born child was Joseph Sire French, born in Texas in 1891. He is also buried in this cemetery. His father was noted as born in Sullivan, Missouri and his mother born in Memphis, Tennessee. Their names were given as Joseph French and Mary Jane Francis.

Next was Nancy Jane, born in Neosho, Missouri on July 13, 1893. It is not known what happened to her but one record has her as Nancy Jane Cumm in 1938, with parents as Joseph T French and mother as Mary J Francis.

Their son Andrew Jackson French was born on September 7, 1895, in Rogers, Arkansas, and died on October 28, 1952. Andrew was buried in Fairview Cemetery in Joplin.

Another child was Rosa Marie French, born on February 9, 1902, in Kansas City, Clay County, Missouri. Rose was married 3 times. Her name at the time of her death in 1946 was Rosa Marie French Barron.

Mary Jane's first husband, Joseph T French, was previously married to Susannah/Susan Gray. Their children were Samuel, John and Lula [Barnes]. Joseph was a musician and traveled around frequently. He died in 1915, and was a musician.

Mary Jane's second husband was Charles Ervin Nabell, to whom she was married on March 28, 1916, in Joplin, Missouri. Charles informed her death certificate. Charles died at Oak Hill Hospital, in Joplin, Newton County, Missouri on November 30, 1970. According to his death certificate, he had been blind for his lifetime. There was more than one article in the newspaper that indicated that Mary Jane may also have been blind. In 1921, she was listed as an applicant for the Missouri pension roll for the blind--the reason given was sore eyes at age one month.
