Bertha was born July 27,1932, the fifth daughter to Amos E. and Iva M. (Heiss) Spracklin from Brusett, MT. She joined sisters Margaret, Alice, and Betty, later followed by Dorothy and Helen.

Bertha married the love of her life James (Jim) Roufley on September 18, 1948.

The first two years of their marriage they shared a sheep wagon, on the Crow Rock Ranch, while herding sheep. In 1950, they purchased their first ranch in Brusett, on Lone Tree Creek. On March 19, 1950, son Alroy was born, two years later he was joined by sister Violet in 1952, then sister Joyce in 1954, and finally sister Elaine in 1957.

In 1964, Bertha and Jim purchased Berthas father's adjacent ranch. They moved into their "new" home and were excited to have running water and a real bathtub.

Bertha's favorite past time was being outside with her animal's. They raised Herford cattle, sheep, and whatever other animal came along, with emphasis on registered bulls. Bertha made sure every animal had a name.

Later in life Bertha spent her free time doing needle work, such as cross stitch, crocheting, fabric painting and reading. She also made a quilt for all her children and made many afghans for friends and family.

Bertha was preceded in death by her husband Jim of 42 years, in 1991; her parents Amos and Iva; sisters Mary Anna, Margaret, Alice, Betty, and Helen; and a step-grandson Kevin.

She is survived by her son Alroy of Miles City; daughters Violet Kjellstrom of Huron, SD, Joyce (Ken) Holmlund of Miles City, and Elaine Roufley of Miles City; sister Dorothy; she is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at Custer County Cemetery, Miles City, MT. immediately following the service.
