Myrtle's birthday has also been given as January 28, 1887, both in Joplin, Missouri, and in Webb City, Missouri. The 1900 census supports the year of birth as 1887, as does her SSA & C Registration in 1939, which gives Joplin as her place of birth. The Missouri Birth register gives the date as January 28, 1887 in Webb City, Missouri.

Her death certificate was informed by Roy F. Berry, who was her husband, listed as age 49 at the time of her death.

In 1910, she was married to Elmer Floyd Stones, a native of San Bernadino, who died in April 1934, and is buried in Mountain View Cemetery. The couple were living together in Riverside County, California, with her parents. That marriage did not last. There were 2 children living with them in 1910: Roy W Stone, age 6 born in Kansas, and Gertrude L Stone, age 4, also born in Kansas. However, as the father of the two children were listed as born in Pennsylvania, mother in Missouri, it is thought that the two children were born to John Albert Sellars and Myrtle, who married on January 29, 1903, in Galena, Kansas. The son was noted as born February 22, 1904, in Galena, to Myrtle Powell and "Jack" Sellars. Myrtle and John "Jack" Albert Sellars divorced in 1906. She had custody of their two sons.

When Myrtle's sister "Dicy" married William H Rogers in November 1907 in San Bernardino, Mrs. Myrtle Sellars was a guest, as was Mr. Elmer Stone.

Myrtle Powell married Monte Lasater on September 11, 1917, in Everett, Snohomish, Washington. They had one daughter together, Velda Ruth [Cosenza] born on May 21, 1918, in Seattle. However, the marriage did not last. Monte married Rose Tabbut in 1927. Daughter Velda went to live with them.
