Derald was born in Santa Anna, Texas, on August 27, 1940, to Buril E. Hudson and Laura Minta Bailey Hudson. The fourth of five children, he was the only child of Buril and Minta born in a hospital. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Buril Dean Hudson; and his three sisters, Yvonne Hudson Adams, Wanell Hudson Grant, and Barbara Hudson Polk.
Raised in Lawn, Texas, Derald attended Jim Ned High School in Tuscola, Texas. After high school he moved to Fort Worth to attend drafting school. After a few years in Amarillo, he moved to Houston in 1966 to sell commercial kitchen equipment. In 1978, Derald and Judy moved their family to Montgomery, Texas.
In the 1970s and 1980s, Derald started two businesses building refrigerated buildings primarily for the meat industry. He was a proud member of the Southwest Meat Association (SMA), the Oklahoma-Texas Meat Processors Association (OTMPA), and the Louisiana Association of Meat Processors (LAMP). Derald was a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, serving on the Junior Meat Judging Committee; a Shriner; and a member of Masonic Lodge #1230.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 28,2022, at the Montgomery United Methodist Church, 22548 TX-105, Montgomery, Texas 77356. Visitation will be held at 10 am, funeral service at 11 am, followed by a reception. Derald will be buried at the New Montgomery Cemetery at 1 pm.
