Dorothy "Dot" Ballance Pate, 91, of Fremont went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, January 14, 2022 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mrs. Pate was born in Johnston County on November 28, 1930 to the late Wilbert C. Fitzgerald Sr. and Effie Wellons Fitzgerald. She was a member of Fremont Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Gerald B. Ballance and wife, Deborah of Fremont and Andy Ballance and wife, Jenny of Fremont; two step-sons, John D. Pate and wife, Betty of Pikeville and Morris B. Pate and wife, Charlene of Pikeville; one step-daughter, Martie McCall and husband, Randy of Pikeville; three sisters, Louise Wombolt of Virginia, Edith Knight and husband, Harold of Greensboro and Pat Humphries of Virginia; sister-in-law, Lu Little of Kenly; four grandchildren, Ann Marie McPherson and husband, Chris, Bryant Ballance, Harry Ballance Jr. and Jessica Ballance; numerous step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Harry Bryant Ballance Jr. and Dewey M. Pate; three brothers, Malcolm, Wilbert and Rubert Fitzgerald and one sister, Marjorie Berson.
