Joe was a charter member of Morning Star Baptist Church. He was a simple man that loved his Lord, his family and his church. He worked at Gerber Products in Asheville as a Supervisor for 32 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. His loyalty was unsurpassed. He loved farming, working in the hay, taking care of his cattle and being a "Joe" of all trades.
Surviving is his loving wife of 58 years, Joyce Bishop Wilson; son, Curtis Wilson and fiancée, Carla McMahan, of Newdale; daughter, Renee Wilson Link of Morganton; grandchildren: Brandon Wilson, Brayden Link, Jordan Link and Braxton Link; brothers: Roy Wilson and wife, Brenda, of Micaville and Robert Wilson and wife, Ruby, of Pleasant Gap; sister, Lila Melvin and husband, Wayne, of Wurtland, KY; and sisters-in-law: Hazel Wilson Roberts of Bald Creek and Jerlean Wilson Crowder of Spruce Pine. Several other extended family also survive.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, January 24th at Morning Star Baptist Church. Revs. Doug Bare, Billy Mitchell and Kenneth Forbes will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12 noon at the church.
The family would like to say a special thank you and gratitude to his care team and nurses in the Infusion Department of Blue Ridge Regional Hospital and to all the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge for the wonderful and loving care given to Joe.
