MRS. MARY A. HAYLEY
Died at her residence in Desoto County, Miss., Feb. 20, 1860, aged 58 years, 5 months and 10 days. The deceased was born in Wake County, North Carolina on the 10th of September, 1802. In the fall of 1836, she with her husband moved to Tennessee, where she joined the Big Spring Baptist Church in 1838; moved to this State in 1847, where she united with the Philadelphia Baptist Church, in which she remained a consistent member up to her death.
Sister Hayley's loss is deeply and severely felt by the Church. As a mother, she was among the best, leaving a large family of doting children to mourn their loss (she being a widow). They doubtless feel that their almost only earthly stay has been taken from them. Oh! how does death rob us of our richest jewels on earth? But God through Christ will unite loved ones who trust in Him, in his triumphant Kingdom, never to part again.
E. A. Strickland
Philadelphia Church, Marshall Co., Miss.
Resolved, That the above obituary be recorded on our Church Book, and a copy of the same to be forwarded to the Tennessee Baptist for publication, with the request that our denominational paper in North Carolina copy the same.
By order of the Church in regular conference assembled Saturday before the second Sabbath in August, 1860.
