Som came to the United States in 1989 and settled in Des Moines.
He began working at Monfort in Des Moines. In 1995, he went to work for Iowa Spring Manufacturing in Adel, Iowa.
He married Joy Sikham in Des Moines in 1996.
He enjoyed tending to his grandchildren. He was a handyman who could fix houses and cars. He was a nice man with a big heart who would help anyone in need.
Som was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. A private family burial will take place at Glendale Cemetery at a later date.
