Research notes

A death certificate was not found for Adolph Helbling in online research in early 2022. (He should not be confused with Oscar Adolph Helbling, who lived in the Pittsburgh area at the same time, and who died in 1957.)

Starting in 1902, the Agudath Achim synagogue was located in nearby Braddock, which had a bustling Jewish community.

Adolph Helbling might have been related to Jennie Helbling of Braddock, who married Samuel Popover in Pittsburgh in 1915. Jennie's marriage license application lists her parents as Adolph Helbling and Mollie Hecht, and says that her parents were living in Austria at that time. The marriage was officiated by Rabbi Samuel Zahler of the Machsikei Hadas congregation in the Hill District.
