"Mrs. Adaline Walker Bettis, widow of the late S.A. Bettis, died in Salisbury on the 21st inst., from the effects of an operation performed in that place.
She was the mother of the late Mrs. I.I. Davis, Mrs. Wm. Boger and Mrs Malone, and resided the last year of her life with Mrs. Davis. A consistent christian woman, of modest, retiring disposition, devoted to home and its responsibilities, she cared little for the world and its ways. Her age was 76 y ears. Her interrment will be in the Methodist church yard on Saturday, Rev. Mr. Parker, her pastor, conducting the services."
She was a good friend for many years of this writer, who lays this brief tribute of truth on her tomb."
(Mrs. Bettis' remains were originally interred in the Methodist Churchyard on King Street, but were apparently disinterred in or prior to 1924 when the entire cemetery was moved to make way for the building of the Lutheran church.)
