Italian set designer. In 1988 he won the Academy Award, the Nastro d'Argento and the David di Donatello for 'The Last Emperor' by Bernardo Bertolucci, for which he also created the sets of 'Last Tango in Paris', 'Il conformista',' Piccolo Buddha' and' Té nel deserto', was Luchino Visconti's set designer for 'Morte a Venezia', winning the Nastro d'Argento in 1972, and for Billy Wilder for 'Avanti!', for Luca Ronconi, Barry Levinson, John Schlesinger, Brian De Palma, Warren Beatty. He was the nephew of the co-founder and first president of FIAT Lodovico Scarfiotti and cousin of the Ferrari driver Ludovico Scarfiotti.
