Rev. Elden E. Ehrhart, 95, formerly of Airville, died Sunday, December 23, 2007 at the StoneRidge Village Campus Health Care Center where he was a resident. He was the husband of Mary E. Butts Ehrhart, to whom he was married 65 years on June 4, 2007.

Born in Dallastown on September 9, 1912, he was the son of the late Adam and Mary McDowell Ehrhart.

He was a 1929 graduate of Dallastown High School, a 1939 graduate of Franklin & Marshall College where he received a BA Degree and a 1942 graduate of Lancaster Theological Seminary. From 1942 to 1952 he was pastor of St. David's UCC, Killinger, Pa. and Zion UCC, Rife, Pa. From 1952 to 1960 he was pastor of Redeemer UCC, Dushore, Pa., St. Paul's UCC, Overton, Pa. and St. Peter's UCC, Elkland, Pa. He had been Chaplain of the Pa. State Grange from 1950 to 1966. From 1960 to 1973 he served as pastor of Mt. Bethel UCC, Samuel's UCC and St. John's UCC, all in McClure, Pa., becoming Pastor of Emeritus of the three churches. From 1973 to 1982 he became pastor of Christ UCC, Leck Kill, Pa. and Salem UCC, Rough & Ready, Pa. where he also became Pastor Emeritus, retiring in 1982. He had also been involved in numerous church camps for 35 years. He and his wife entertained in many skits under the name of "Sense & Nonsense" for many years. He was a member of St. Paul's UCC, Dallastown and enjoyed playing tennis.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Thomas W., husband of Joanne Ehrhart of Annville and David E., husband of Charlotte Ehrhart; four grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Winifred "Timmy" Cohn in 1983 and nine brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from St. Paul's UCC, 205 W. Main St., Dallastown. Viewing 10 a.m. at the church. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Lancaster.
