Carolyn Smith, 83, of Lake Dallas, passed away December 11, 2007. She was born October 21, 1924 on the prairie near Justin, Texas, to Jess Schoppaul and Sally Broome Schoppaul. She went to the Double Oak School and married the late Gene Q. Smith of Lake Dallas and they were married for 54 years before he preceded her in death on August 23, 1996. She was the first Secretary and Bookkeeper for Highland Village and was active in the naming of Highland Village. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 13, 2007, from 6 - 8 p.m. at the DeBerry Funeral Directors. Services will be Friday, December 14, 2007, at 1 p.m. in the DeBerry Funeral Chapel with Terry Collins of the Denton Church of Christ assisted by Andy Warren of the Lake Dallas Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Swisher Cemetery in Lake Dallas, Texas. Pallbearers will be Kevin Cruson, Nathan MacDougall, Darrel Jenkins, Dewayne Jenkins, Jesse Evans, Lee Fry, Patrick Nichols and Terry Collins, II.
