Our beloved Abdiel C. Solis, age 86, passed away peacefully in his home in Austin Texas, the morning of December 28, 2021, surrounded by his loving wife and children.

He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Manuel and Margarita Solis, mother-in-law Theodora Vasquez, sister Olga Solis, brother Osias Solis, aunt Dora Costilla, and sister-in-law Gloria Solis.

As a young man, he helped his dad with farming at the family ranch including learning how to drive a John Deere tractor at the age of 14. He married the love of his life, Virginia Solis, at the age of 21. He then chose to leave the family ranch at the age of 22 and became a truck driver at Bruce's Pies, where he was employed for over 42 years and drove over 5.2 million miles.

Some of his hobbies included going to the Batter-Up Batting Cages with his friends, playing washers with his Barbershop buddies on East 1st Street, cruising in his 1957 Tiffany Blue Chevy, and watching fastpitch/softball games at Pan Am field. Above all, he was a spiritual man and faithful tither until the end. Throughout his life, he was involved in many church activities, including playing the saxophone and bass during church services.

He will be remembered for his teasing jokes, his entertaining stories, his birthday song, his unfailing work ethic, his contagious smile, and his willingness to help anyone during their time of need, but most of all he will be remembered for his love for the Lord and his family.

Abdiel is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 65 years, Virginia V. Solis of Austin, Texas.
