Ronnie Andries, 82, a longtime resident of Alexandria passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, in Baton Rouge. He lived in Baton Rouge following the passing of his wife, Eloise.

Ronnie is preceded in death by his wife, Eloise; his parents, A.V. and Ruby Myers Andries; his brothers; Donald, Alan, Mike Andries and his sister, Candace Gammill.

Ronnie was a graduate of Holy Savior Menard High School, and served in the United States Marine Corps, where he played football and drove the General's jeep. He was a qualified expert Marksman for three consecutive years and received a letter from his Commandant commending him on this achievement. Ronnie married Eloise Gomez in 1961, and they were lifelong residents of Alexandria. As an entrepreneur and successful small businessman, he operated First Credit of Alexandria for over 45 years. Ronnie appreciated his many friendships. He loved spending time at the cook shed, frying turkeys or roasting pigs for friends and family, as well as cheering and occasionally betting on the Tigers. Ronnie was proud of his Belgian heritage, and served as a past President of the Belgian-American Club. He also enjoyed his time as a member of the Krewe of Parlangua, Krewe of Kincaid and the No Name Club.

Ronnie was a devoted member of the Roman Catholic Church and was inducted into the Knights of Columbus. It was his children and grandchildren that ultimately brought him the most joy in life. He cherished celebrating their achievements and milestone events.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters Monya Galaif (Jonathan) and Lauren Hawthorne (Trippe); grandchildren, Meredith, Leah, Rachel and Joshua Galaif, Olivia, Millicent, and Amelia Hawthorne; numerous siblings, nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Galaif, Trippe Hawthorne, Joshua Galaif, Vince Meadows, Sammie Meadows and Billy Quinney.

The family is grateful to Karen Smith for her loving and devoted care during Ronnie's last year. More than a caregiver, Karen became a cherished friend to the whole family.

The family requests that memorials be made to Toys for Tots, a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. Memorials may be sent to Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, 18251 Quantico Gateway Dr., Triangle, VA 22172.
