Mr. James D. Sackett, 83, of the Pampa Nursing Center died Monday at Highland General Hospital.

He was born Feb. 17, 1897 in Kansas and has been a resident of Pampa since 1917. He was a member of the Harrah United Methodist Church and was a veteran of World War I. He was married to Lucy Arnett Burch on Oct. 2, 1932 i Sayre, Okla. She died in 1975.

Services for Mr. Sackett will be conducted at 4 p.m Wednesday in the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Earl Blair of the Kingswood United Methodist Church in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in the Mobeetie Cemetery.

The casket will not be open at the service.

Survivors include five sons, Floyd and Charlie of Pampa, James D. Jr. of Albuquerque, Paul of Lewisville, and Dan of Amarillo; four daughters, Mrs. Jack Frost of Happy, Mrs. John Cornett of Carrollton, Mrs. Gene Enterline of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Don Bryant of Amarillo; one sister, Mrs. Ella Springer of Dewey, Okla.; 26 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Lions Hi-Plains Eye Bank at P.O. Box 1110, Amarillo.
