James Horace Kilgore, 93, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021 at his home. He was born in Chickasaw County on August 16, 1928 to the late Horace Hillian Kilgore and Cynthia Criddle Kilgore. He was a man of respect that loved spending time with his family. He passed on his love of hunting and fishing with his kids and grandchildren. In his past time, he loved visiting with people as he peddled his watermelons.
Graveside services will be 4:00 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2021at Macedonia Methodist Church Cemetery in Houston with Bro. Dale Mooneyham and Bro. Ronnie Scott officiating.
He is survived by his three daughters; Myra Booth (Doyle) of Houston, Sherrene Cole (Raymond) of Houston and Judy Ertle (Charlie) of Bruce; his two sons, James Kilgore, Jr. (Linda) of Houston and Thomas Kilgore of Eupora ; his four sisters, Geneva Mooneyham of Houston, Pamela Sammuels of Houston, Sue King of Houston and Barbara Franks of Randolph; his three brothers, Billy Ray Kilgore of Houston, Dennis Kilgore of Houston and Warren Kilgore of TX; his 11 grandchildren; his 27 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Loretta Thomas Kilgore; his parents, Horace and Cynthia Kilgore; his step mother, Mattie Kilgore; his sister, Maylene Gordon; his brothers, John and David Kilgore; his grandson, Hunter Sullivan; his son in law, Brown Sullivan and his daughter in law, Trish Kilgore.
Pallbearers will be Ty Booth, Case Booth, Kevin Kilgore, Darrian Sullivan, Clay Broyles, Dexter Blissard and Leland Kilgore.
