The woman who mothered so many died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen at the age of 94.
She was born June 12, 1913, to Peter and Annie (Anderson) Olson in Lamoure, N.D. She attended country school through the eighth grade and then attended some school at McLaughlin High School. Growing up, she worked on the farm herding cattle and milking cows.
In August of 1933 she married Melvin LeRoy Beusch in Selby and they made their home in McLaughlin. In addition to caring for children, she enjoyed making quilts and singing. She was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Royal Neighbors.
Survivors are three sons, LeRoy (Gladys) Beusch of Spearfish, Glenn (Judy) Beusch of Hot Springs, and Dennis (Julie) Beusch of Aberdeen; three daughters, Marjorie (Ralph) Ogden of Casa Grande, Ariz., Sharon (Edward) Schock of McLaughlin and Joyce (Scott) Fratzke of Vermillion; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; one brother, Harold Olson; and one sister, Hilda Banik.
Her husband Melvin, a son Donald, grandson Aaron Beusch Fratzke and six brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services for Evelyn were held Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in McLaughlin. Pastor Dennis Fonkert officiated.
Casketbearers were Brad Beusch, Tyler Schock, Travis Schock, Chris Beusch, Ryan Beusch and Gary Henderson.
Burial was at the McLaughlin City Cemetery with Kesling Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
