Funeral Services For Orin Allen Held at Maeser.

MAESER (Special) -- Orin Daniel Allen, 62, a prominent grower of race and draft horses in Ashley Valley died at his home in Maeser Thursday following a paralytic stroke. Funeral services were held Sunday in the Maeser Chapel under the direction of Bishop Lester Bingham. Prayer at the home was offered by Charles H. Colton. The opening song at the services by the Maeser chorus, "Abide With Me." Solo, Harvey Knight, "The Old Rugged Cross."

The first speaker was Carl Preece, Solo, "Goin Home by George Davis."

The concluding speaker was H. Walter Wooley with closing remarks by Verdin R. Johnson of the bishopric. Song, "Resting Now From Care and Sorrow," by Maeser chorus. Prayer was offered by Joseph P. Hacking.

William Barker dedicated the grave in the Maeser Cemetery. Burial was under the directions of the Swain Funeral Home.

Born in Huntsville, Utah November 25, 1879, he was a son of Orin D. and Annie Christiana Bindrup Allen. With his father's family he moved from Huntsville to Moab and from there to Ashley Valley in 1893.

He was married to Eleanor Merkley in Vernal, December 31, 1903. He was an elder in the LDS church.

Surviving are his widow and nine sons and daughters, Mrs, Viola Caldwell, Karl and Lawrence Allen, Mrs. Florence Massey, Mrs. Edith Bodily, Annie and Audrey Allen, all of Vernal; Leonard Allen of Springville; Phebe Allen of Oakland, California; 11 grandchildren and eight brothers and sisters, Mrs. Martha Price of Ogden, Mrs. Marinda Hall, Mrs. Emma Bennion, Mrs. Mary Hacking and Archie, Ezra, Marion and Edgar Allen of Vernal.
