1927 ~ 2004

Beverly Duckett Dunford died at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center on March 31, 2004 from complications following surgery.

She was born in Provo, Utah on September 30, 1927 to Edward James Duckett and Jessie Souter, both of Liverpool, England. A lifelong Provo resident, she attended public schools in Provo and also studied at BYU.

She married Alma Rex Dunford in the Salt Lake Temple on June 4, 1947 and is the mother of seven children.

A piano teacher, hundreds of young Provoans passed through her home and under the guidance, developed a love for music. Her labor of love was the Utah Valley Symphony, with which she was affiliated for over 40 years, both playing the violin and serving as the Symphony's only business manager.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many Stake and Ward callings, including 13 years as a Relief Society president. In addition to her long standing association with the Symphony Guild, she was also a member of the Comitas Cultural Club and worked alongside her husband Rex with handicapped troops of the Boy Scouts of America.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Ethel Duckett Kilgore and brothers Arthur Duckett and John (Jack) Duckett.

She is survived by husband A. Rex Dunford, Provo; sister Irene Duckett Roberts, Salt Lake City; and children, Craig R. (Sherrie) Dunford, Mapleton, Barry R. (Connie) Dunford, Battleground, WA; Valerie (Russell) Holbrook, Liverpool, TX; Lori (David) Cannon, Vancouver, WA; Annette (Michael) Fierro, Park City; Deborah (Patrick) Hansen, Elk Ridge, and Kathleen Jacobs, Orem.

Rex and Beverly have 35 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A devoted wife, sister, mother and grandmother, no one epitomized more the title of "Beloved Matriarch" than did Beverly Dunford to her large extended family. Few, if any, who knew her were not infected with her love for life and her genuine goodness.

A funeral service will be held Monday, April 5, 2004, at 12 noon at the Provo Tabernacle, 100 South University Ave. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Sunday evening, from 6-8 p.m., or Monday, also at the Mortuary, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m.

Interment, East Lawn Memorial Hills.
