On Census reports, she is consistently indicated to have been born in N.Y. state. In "History of Tioga Co, PA", it states that Mary Ruth married Dr. Isaac Sullivan in Mississippi and died there. It is most likely that she and Dr Sullivan met and married while he was a student in medical school in PA.
Although born and reared in the north, she had sons who served in the Confederacy during the Civil War. At least one son was killed in the war. She died near the start of the Civil War.
They had six known sons and two known daughters all born in Carroll/Montgomery Co, MS. Her next to youngest son, William Van Amberg Sullivan was elected to the U. S. House of Rep, and was appointed as a U. S. Senator from MS in 1898.
