Abner "Slim" Bankson Jr., 73, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon December 23, 2021 at his residence with his family at his side. Abner was born on Thursday July 15, 1948 to Reba and Abner Bankson Sr. in Sparta Illinois. He been involved for 45 years in the Madison County horse and pony 4-H program serving as a past president. He currently served as president of the Moonsville Conservation Club. His hobby farm included mules and horses that he cared for. Abner's first love was spending time with his family.

Surviving Abner are his mother, Reba Wheatly; loving wife of Gay (Ruff) Bankson, daughters Amy (Ritchie) Gerlofs, Tammy (John Willhide) Bankson; sons Mike Bankson, Richard (Molly Bolt) Bankson, Robert (Valerie) Bankson, Zachary (Lou) Surface, Charlie (Nicole) Stewart; 19 grandchildren, 3 great-Grandchildren; Sister Linda (Dave) Norris, brother Imon (Linda Kreigh) Bankson and good family friends David Mares and Mike and Jody Pardue.

As Abner wished cremation will be completed with a Celebration of life service at a later time.
