He was the son of the late William J. Jr. and Ethel J. (Wolfe) Ashenfelder.
He was a retired foreman from the former Southern Venetian Blind Company, Harrisburg; an Army veteran of World War II; a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Marysville, where he was an usher; past president of the Marysville Golden Age Club; vice president of the Marysville Church of God Senior Life; a board member of the Marysville-Rye Senior Center and the Perry County Board of Aging; a volunteer for the Meals-on-Wheels program; and was a volunteer for many community causes and he and his wife were known for their cooking at their church and senior center dinners.
Surviving are his wife, Betty J. Eppley Ashenfelder; a daughter, Gay J. Sterner of Shermans Dale; two sons, Dallas M. Jr. of Duncannon and Lon K. of Marysville; a sister, Beverly E. Register of Marysville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held April 29 in his church. Burial was in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Marysville.
