Haines City - Freda Louise Gschwender, 93 of Haines City passed away on June 2, 2021. Born July 17, 1927, in Hamilton, Ohio, she was the daughter of Ralph and Bertha Kennel.
Freda's first job was as a keypunch operator punching paycheck cards at a War Plant. She met the love of her life Charles and they married on September 15, 1947. Together they raised eight children. She later went on to work at JC Penney's in Lakeland and retired after 21 years of service. Freda was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Lakeland until they closed and was a member of the Pythian Sisters State Lodge. She was a loving mother, wife, and friend. She sacrificed unselfishly to give her family the time, love, and support which will never be forgotten. She loved her family, bingo, puzzles, fishing, camping, and panning for gold prior to her husband passing away.
Freda is preceded in death by her husband Charles Gschwender Sr., sons John Stephen Gschwender and Charles Edward Gschwender, Jr.
Her survivors include children, Bob (Sharon), Don; Terry (Jared) McPheters, Janet (Gary) Picklesimer, Betty (Alan) Coy, Barbara (Mike) Couch, daughter-in-law Millie, sister-in-law Martha Kegley; 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who loved her very much.
Visitation at Lanier Funeral Home will be held Thursday, June 24 at 10:00, memorial service at 11:00, immediately followed by Graveside service at Oakhill Cemetery.
