Buttercup passed away peacefully with her family by her side at her home at the age of 85 on Sunday, December 12, 2021. She was a retired phlebotomist from Our Lady of the Lake Hospital and worked in the medical field at the Plaquemine Sanitarium, White Castle Hospital and the Dermatology Clinic. She was a resident and native of Plaquemine. Visiting will be at Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine on Thursday, December 16th from 5pm to 8pm and at First Baptist Church of White Castle on Friday, December 17th from 9am until religious service at 11am, conducted by Rev. Paul Taylor. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery. Preceded in death by her husband, James "Jimmy" Rushing, Sr.; grandson, Jared Crouch; great-granddaughter, Abigal Robertson; parents, Jesse Cecil and Nina Newsom Ferguson; siblings, Laverne Parnell, Jesse "Fuzzy" Ferguson, Jr., and Barbara Jean Osborne. She was devoted to taking care of the love of her life her husband "Jimmy" and to make sure her family was taken care of. Her family was her life! She loved the medical profession and retired as the pianist at First Baptist Church of White Castle.
