Tandy Stepp, A Companion, Is Seriously Injured As Car Leaves Highway Near Carrollton.
David (Nick) Acy of Carrollton, was killed early Sunday morning when his car left the highway and hurtled down a twenty-foot embankment about a mile east of Carrollton. Tandy Stepp, also an occupant of the car was seriously injured and has been taken to Campbell's Clinic for treatment.
The boys were driving west on Highway 82 in Acy's car, a Mercury convertible, when the accident occurred near Hillcrest Store, the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Marshall. Stepp, with both legs broken, managed to climb the embankment and summon help from a passing motorist. Acy was dead on arrival at the Winona hospital. Following emergency treatment at Winona Hospital, Stepp was taken to Campbell's Clinic in Memphis.
The cause of the accident is undetermined, but according to Highway Patrolman W. A. Shanks, who made the investigation, Acy must have been driving at a high rate of speed, as the car hit the guard rail and knocked down four iron posts before leaving the highway.
Funeral services for Mr. Acy will be held this afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Baptist Church in Carrollton, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F L. Marshall, he leaves a half-brother, E. W. Moore.
