Mary Lou Adams, 82, of Independence, Mo., passed away peacefully on December 15, 2007, at St. Luke's East in Lee's Summit, Mo. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2007, at the Christ United Methodist Church, 14506 E. 39th St., Independence, Mo. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 20, 2007, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at the Mt. Washington Forever Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions to the Christ United Methodist Church. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents and sister Nancy of Belton, Mo., who passed away a month before her. She is survived by her husband Orville of the home, a daughter, Julie Adams Carter and husband Alan of Fargo, N.D.; a son, Tom Adams and wife Penny of Independence, Mo.; grandchildren Ashley, Tyler and Connor Adams, all of Independence, Jeremy Carter and wife Susan of Wyoming. Mary Lou worked as a Registered Nurse throughout her career, following in the medical field after her father. Following retirement in the 1980s, she had the joy of traveling with her husband to various locations from cruises to bus tours with wonderful friends. The greatest joy of her life in the past years was being able to travel with her husband, son, daughter-in-law and their children. Trips to Colorado and California to spend time with her daughter and son-in-law were definitely highlights. Mary Lou leaves behind a great many friends at Christ United Methodist Church, where she was very involved throughout the 40 plus years she was a member.
