Andrew Jackson Alsobrooks was born to the parents of Timothy & Claudia Wright – Alsobrooks on a Saturday the 23rd, of September in 1911.

Mr. Andrew Jackson Alsobrooks was the fifth child of thirteen births by his parents. Place of birth was near the town of Sulphur Springs, Texas in a community called East Caney in Hopkins County. He was affectionally referred to as "AJ" by family and friends. Mr. Alsobrooks worked as an agricultural farmer on his father's property along the sides of his siblings. His faithful membership was at East Caney Baptist Church were he participated in singing in the choir.

On the 4th day of December of 1932 his first of two daughters was born. A healthy baby named Myrtle Ruth Alsobrooks whose mother was named Ms. Lethal Shaw. Mr. Alsobrooks and Ms. Lethal Shaw never married and Myrtle Ruth was not acknowledged as his biological child until December of 1982.

The marriage of Mr. Andrew Jackson Alsobrooks to Ms. Ina Annabell Henson of Winnsboro, Franklin County, Texas was in September of 1938. Ina Annabell Henson was the second daughter and third child of Mr. John Henson & Mrs. Emma Henson. This marriage produced an adoption of a healthy baby girl named Judy Alsobrooks in 1950.

In the year of 1943, Mr. Alsobrooks entered in to the United States Navy to fight in World War II. The unit that he was apart of was the 22nd Special Naval Construction Battalion called SeeBee's. The Seabees have been the military construction arm of the U.S. Navy since 1942. The first Seabees were civilian construction workers who enlisted early in World War II to continue building for the Navy in the Pacific Theater and in Europe. Their accomplishments during the war are legendary. Nearly 200,000 men, master craftsmen, the most skillful of the nation's skilled workers, are credited with paving the road to victory for the allies in the Pacific and in Europe.

After returning from the military and reuniting with his wife, Mr. Alsobrooks moved his family to Gary, Lake County, Indiana in 1945. He was employed by the US Steele Mill at 1 North Broadway on the banks of the Great Lake. His brother, Dillard L. Alsobrooks, was influenced by A.J. to reside in Gary after laying-over in route to Baltimore, Maryland. In August of 1968, A.J. lost his wife of 30 years to an illness. His life was drastically changed spiritually and psychologically due to the lost of his beloved wife. He attempted to take his life, but was unsuccessful and returned to Sulphur Springs to reside with his younger brother Commissioner Arnold Alsobrooks.

On Monday the 6th of December in 1982 was announced dead at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Services were conducted on Wednesday the 8th of December of the same year at Tapp Funeral Home Chapel in Sulphur Springs, Texas. The Rev. Ralph L. Williams officiated over the services as Ms. Vida Alsobrooks directed the services. The body was laid for interment at East Caney Cemetery in Hopkins County.
