Fredric Eldon Jefferson, 79, died peacefully in his sleep in Hospice care at the Christopher House in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, due to complications from hip replacement surgery.
He was born June 13, 1928, in Eaton, Ohio, the son of John F. "Fred" and Helen N. (Bunn) Jefferson. He was a 1947 graduate of Eaton High School. After living in the Texas area for several years, he had recently lived in Eaton with his daughter, Karen. He enjoyed attending lunches at the Senior Center and talking with the people there about the "old days."
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, David, in 1948, and Jon, in 1998.
Survivors include seven children, Karen L. Jefferson of Eaton, Fredric D. (Cathy) Jefferson of Dayton, Ohio, Jon F. (Reagan) Jefferson of Austin, Texas, Edward M. "Matt" (Estela) Jefferson of Angleton, Texas, Stacey L. Jefferson (fiancé Jeff McKillop) of Austin, Texas, Patricia A. (Matt) Fiore of Austin, Texas, and Erin L. (Jimmy) Smith of Valley Mills, Texas.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Stephanie Hisey, Troy Hickman, Jeanne French, Scott Samuels, Jessica Jefferson, Jamie Jefferson, Benjamin Jefferson, Sophia Jefferson, Kalen Smith, Bowen Smith and Weston Smith; eight great-grandchildren, Joshua Hisey, Willie Henry, Zachary Henry, Christopher Hisey, Troy Hickman II, Matthew Barker, Alec Hickman and Megan Barker.
Mr. Jefferson will be cremated in Austin, Texas, with his ashes to be interred at a future date in the Jefferson family plot in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton. When a date is determined, there will also be a memorial service held celebrating his life.
