Samuel H. Hopkins, Jr., 88, of Upperco, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021 at his home.
Born September 15, 1933 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Samuel H. Hopkins, Sr. and Grace Olivia (Harris) Hopkins.
Mr. Hopkins honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He had worked for the John Hampshire Corporation as a plasterer for 25 years and retired as a building inspector for Baltimore County. He was a member of Post 200 of the American Legion, Westminster Elks Lodge 2277, the Loyal Order of Moose Reisterstown Lodge 1577, and the Beach Harbor Co-op in Grasonville where he enjoyed fishing and crabbing.
Surviving are his longtime companion, Phyllis Bowman of Upperco; sons, Samuel H. Hopkins, III (Kathy) of Finksburg, Brian Michael Hopkins of Reisterstown, and Jeffrey Scott Hopkins of Bel Air; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 9, 2021, from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Eline Funeral Home, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021, at the funeral home with the Rev. Michael C. Adams officiating. Interment will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Upperco.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Christ Lutheran Church, 16530 Trenton Church Road, Upperco, MD 21155.
