George Gilbert Mansfield, 85 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at his home in Higginsville.

He was born Wednesday, July 22, 1936 in Creighton, Missouri and was the son of the late Honus Mansfield and the late Rosa Mansfield (North). He married Karon Mansfield (Schumaker) on August 4, 1989. They were married 32 years. He was a graduate of Clinton High School-Class of 1955. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Higginsville. George worked for Western Missouri Mental Health and Northwestern Missouri Mental Health until his retirement in 2008. George enjoyed refinishing antique furniture, watching westerns and reading the Kansas City Star. He was a fan of baseball, NASCAR, and World of Outlaws racing. George will be greatly missed by friends and family.

Surviving are his wife, one son, one daughter, two step-sons, seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ann Mansfield (Reddick); two sisters, Frances Guth and Darlene McGehee.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1501 Lipper St., Higginsville, Missouri.

A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM on Saturday at the church with Rev. Kurt Brandon officiating. Interment will follow in the Higginsville City Cemetery. Casket Bearers: Jacob Mansfield, Zachary Mansfield, Marcus Wolfenbarger, John Hill II, Douglas Maryott, Keith Bass. Honorary Casket Bearers: Charlie Doan, Clarence Meineke, Melvin Oetting, Presley Hartwig. Memorial contributions can be made out to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Preferred Hospice or American Cancer Society.
