East Bridgewater – John "Monk" Merianos 62 of East Bridgewater passed away peacefully from natural causes at his home on August 4, 2012. He was the beloved husband of the late Marsha (Rudolph) Merianos.

Born in Germany he was the son of the late Elias and Karolina "Lina" Merianos and came to this country with his family in 1954.

He had lived most of his life in East Bridgewater and had attended East Bridgewater Public Schools. As a young man he had traveled the United States, living and working in California, Colorado, Florida and the US Virgin Islands.
Having lived most of his life in East Bridgewater, John was well known among his many friends and family for his quick wit and sense of humor.

John was a longtime member of the Brockton Carpenters Union and the East Bridgewater Commercial Club, and enjoyed fishing, gardening and reading.

John will be remembered by his friends and family as a generous person with a "heart of gold".

John is survived by his children Marc Merianos of Bridgewater and Jodi Merianos of Norton; his grandchildren Malissa and Natasha Merianos of Norton and Nick Merianos of Bridgewater, his great grandson Dominic Merianos of Norton. He is also survived by his brother George Merianos and his wife Dot of Kentucky, his sisters Jane Gilson and her husband Dennis of Halifax, and Jean Correia and her husband Ray of Plympton, his niece Chelsea Gilson of Halifax, and his cousins Peter Merianos of Brockton, Peter Merianos of Middleboro, Maria Colarusso of Brockton, Jenny Kakas of Canton, and Despina Plessas of Brockton.

Family and friends are invited to attend his services to be held Tuesday August 14 at 10 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Central Cemetery, East Bridgewater. Visiting hours are omitted by request of the family.
